Naxos is the largest island of the Cyclades (428 km2). Its shape looks like a rhombus, while it belongs to the eastern Cyclades. In the north of Naxos is Mykonos, in the east Donoussa, southeast is Amorgos, in the south is Ios and in the west Paros. Naxos is 103 nautical miles away from the port of Piraeus. Its coastline is almost is almost 148 km. It is sheer and rocky in the east and milder in the west, without forming any significant bays. In the east and south parts of the island there are massifs, having as the highest top Zas, with 1004 m height, which is the highest mountain top among the Cyclades islands. On the contrary, central and west Naxos have extensive plains.
